Candidiasis Testing in Singapore: Candidiasis, also called a “yeast infection,” can mimic other sexually transmitted infections. It’s uncomfortable, but easily treated with medication.
To diagnose candidiasis, a swab is taken of the infected area (such as the vaginal or penile discharge, or the inside of the mouth). The doctor might immediately look at the fluid under a microscope, after applying a chemical that dissolves human cells and leaves only yeast cells. This type of test yields results immediately. The swab may also be sent to a laboratory to be cultured, in which case the results of the test will take a few days to come back.
